Stone Artisans’ Pavillion – Shilpgram – was organised at the fair by CDOS in association with the Rural Non Farm Development Agency (RUDA). The objectives of the Shilpgram included providing a platform to stone artisans from all over India to directly showcase their skills and products to the international and national stone community and to enable them to establish direct business links with international buyers. The artisans were encouraged to demonstrate the stone art techniques through creation of pieces of art at the spot. The methodology adopted for Shilpgram was to earmarking a special area for artisans and developing it as an artisans village –Shilpgram. Shilpgram proved to be an outstanding success and was immensely beneficial to the artisans.
